Love Accounting, Value Flexibility, and Thrive Working Independently?
QuickStart Accounting Services is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting Associate to support our growing portfolio of nonprofit clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who takes pride in accurate work, enjoys solving problems independently, and wants the flexibility of a remote, part-time role.
At QuickStart, we help nonprofit organizations maintain accurate financial records and manage their accounting needs so they can focus on making a difference. We’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to reliability, professionalism, and exceptional client service.
We’re not looking for someone who needs to be micromanaged. We’re looking for someone we can trust to take ownership, manage their workload, meet deadlines, and get things done.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay: $25–$35 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- Flexible schedule: Part-time hours with flexibility in how you organize your work.
- Room for more hours: Approximately 20–30 hours per week may be available for a highly skilled, efficient, and independent professional.
- Fully remote work: Work from anywhere within the United States.
- Equipment provided: Laptop and any necessary hardware setup to help you work effectively.
- A supportive remote environment: Join a small, collaborative team that values trust, clear communication, flexibility, and quality work.
- Meaningful work: Support nonprofit organizations by helping them maintain sound financial records and fulfill their missions.

- Maintain organized financial documentation and investigate discrepancies.
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

- Track expenses across program, administrative, and fundraising categories.

- Assist with year-end reporting and annual audit preparation.
Payroll & Reconciliations
- Assist with payroll processing, verification, and reconciliations.
- Review payroll allocations and related liabilities.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and employee information.
Client Communication & Workflow Management

- Monitor deadlines, follow up on outstanding items, and keep team members informed.
- Identify potential issues proactively and resolve discrepancies whenever possible.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and follow established procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on QuickBooks experience: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop is required. Experience with both is a plus.
- Strong Excel skills: Comfortable working with spreadsheets, organizing financial data, and reviewing information accurately.
- Accounting experience: Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a similar role, with a solid understanding of reconciliations, financial transactions, and basic financial reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail: You catch inconsistencies, verify your work, and take accuracy seriously.
- High level of independence: You can manage recurring accounting tasks, prioritize competing deadlines, and complete your work without constant direction.
- Reliability and accountability: You follow through on commitments, communicate proactively, and can be trusted to manage confidential financial information.
- Strong organizational skills: You keep records up to date, track outstanding items, and maintain an orderly workflow.
- Professional communication: You’re comfortable communicating with clients, asking the right questions, and following up when information is missing.
- Remote work readiness: You have a reliable internet connection and can work effectively from a home office anywhere in the United States.
Who Will Thrive in This Role?
You’ll be a great fit if you’re the kind of accounting professional who:
- Takes ownership of your work and doesn’t wait to be reminded of deadlines.
- Can look at a reconciliation or financial discrepancy and investigate the issue independently.
- Knows when to make a decision and when to ask for clarification or escalate a concern.
- Values flexibility but understands that client deadlines and accuracy are non-negotiable.
- Enjoys working with a small team where trust, initiative, and dependability matter.
Experience supporting nonprofit organizations, including grant accounting, restricted funds, program expense allocations, or audit preparation, is a plus.
